The Covid-19 pandemic has changed our lives in every way imaginable.
Billions of people are being impacted.
Our lives have been turned upside down.
Tens of millions of people have lost their jobs.
And small business owners have seen their dreams come grinding to a halt.
Owners of coffee shops, stores, salons, restaurants – and any other business with a physical location – have had to close their doors.
Hopefully, little by little, some of those community businesses will be able to open again.
But when they do open, they’ll face more than the obvious challenges like social distancing guidelines.
Retailers will have to change their old customers’ new habits.
Many people have lost the habit of going out.
They’ve become used to eating restaurant food at home. They order home delivery.
They don’t go shopping for their weekly groceries. They order online.
They don’t get together with friends at their local coffee shop. They get together on Zoom.
It’s going to take some time and effort to get people to change those habits back again.
Changing people’s habits is a big deal.
It takes about 30 days to get fixed in a new habit.
And self-isolation due to Covid-19 has lasted for more than 30 days.
This means retailers will have to work hard to change those habits back.
One of the most powerful ways to get people into the habit of coming back to your location is with a loyalty program.
